Highland is a quiet, working-class neighborhood with modest, single-family homes. The community is probably best known for the Highland Mall, once a prominent shopping center that has fallen into disuse in recent years. The neighborhood borders I-35 and Hwy. 290, two prominent local thoroughfares in the city.
